CMC: Championing Multidisciplinary Connectivity as CHEDRO XII Strengthens Higher Educational Internationalization

CHEDRO XII Drives Global Academic

Partnerships Aligned with SDGs

As education evolves to meet global demands, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII (CHEDRO XII) is accelerating higher education internationalization, equipping institutions with strategies for global engagement. Through its Internationalization (IZN) Information Session on March 14, 2025, CHEDRO XII emphasized the urgency of transnational education, academic mobility, and strategic partnerships to enhance institutional competitiveness. “Internationalization is not just an opportunity—it is the foundation for academic excellence in a globalized world,” a CHEDRO XII official stated.

Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC) took center stage with its International Educational Trip to Thailand, a model initiative under its International Academic and Cultural Exchange Program (I-ACE). Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), this program immersed students in diverse academic and cultural experiences, fostering global competencies and institutional growth. A CHED IZN representative commended CMC’s leadership in integrating global learning into its curriculum, setting a benchmark for other HEIs.

Jerson John Villegas, CMC CIAL Coordinator, represented the institution at the event and highlighted the significance of internationalization in shaping well-rounded graduates. “Global engagement is no longer optional—it is essential. Through initiatives like I-ACE, we empower our students with the skills, perspectives, and networks needed to thrive in an interconnected world,” Villegas remarked.

With a strong focus on cross-cultural education and innovation, CHEDRO XII is ensuring that the region’s HEIs are well-positioned to lead in a globally connected academic landscape. “The future of education is interconnected,” the session concluded—an urgent call for institutions to adapt, collaborate, and excel in international academic engagement.
